and we've crossed the border! Around 1 hour till Vancouver. [drl]

Hurray, on our 3rd and final train of the trip. This one is thankfully only 4 hours and not 23 like the last one. [drl]

my USA mobile pay as you go AT&T data usage worked well. I have 5mb left and 3 hours to use it. [drl]

Those emotions could all be down to being very very tired and very very hungry... and there ain't no cafe at this train station. [drl]

Today we leave the USA and enter Canada where we'll live for the next year. Sad, happy, nervous, excited and relieved all at the same time. [drl]

In our Seattle Hotel. The whole place looks amazing, pity we're leaving in 11 hours. [drl]

We're just over an hour out of Seattle. Scenery is breathtaking. Hope it's a sign of things to cone. [drl]

We've been in the USA for 6 weeks and I've suddenly realised if I speak fast enough in a Scottish voice I can do whatever I want... [drl]

I'm not normally a violent person but there is a family sitting across from us with a Macbook, IPad and IPhone. I want to punch them all. [drl]

Awake. Super tired and super dehydrated in that way you only ever get when travelling. Waiting for breakfast. 13 hours to go. [drl]

Sacramento, a good place to call it a night I think.. Breakfast is served in 6 hours. [drl]
|
|
|
Sitting in our tiny roomette. Lights off. Moon and stars shining as we watch the world go by. Perfect end to the trip. [drl]

On board the train! I've always dreamed of doing this. And there is WiFi, that is a dream come true. [drl]

Running 54 minutes late! Like we haven't been here long enough. [drl]

In true David and Emma fashion, we are at the train station 3 hours before the train leaves. [drl]

On the fast ferry from San Francisco to the Oakland train station. Was more exciting and cheaper than getting the BART (Metro). [drl]

0.5 miles that is. [drl]

After 0.5 walking with our suitcase and rucksack we gave in and flagged a taxi. [drl]

If you do one thing this year, make sure its not to book a hotel with Travelocity... what a palava to cancel 1 night of our stay. [drl]

I enjoy listening to other peoples phone calls on buses. A lot of people and a lot of phones on San Francisco's bus network. [drl]

It seems we messed up slightly. Thought we had, and booked, 2 nights in Seattle when we actually only have 1 night (11 hours). [drl]

Super excited about getting to Vancouver on Saturday. Tomorrow we get a 24 hour train with beds to Seattle. [drl]

By sheer luck we just bagged ourselves 2 tickets for Alcatraz this afternoon... a man had 2 spare and we turned up at the right time. Phew! [drl]

Rental car returned. 5 weeks, 5702 miles and only a few minor scratches. Well done Emma who drove all but 1 mile. [drl]
